Placki Ziemniaczane (Potato Pancakes)
Crispy, golden Polish potato pancakes served with sour cream or applesauce.
Ingredients
- 600 g starchy potatoes (peeled and grated)
- 1 medium yellow onion (grated)
- 2 whole eggs
- 3 tbsp plain flour
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper (ground)
- 100 ml vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Place grated starchy potatoes and yellow onion in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
- In a bowl, mix starchy potatoes, yellow onion, eggs, plain flour, salt, and black pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Spoon batter into the pan and flatten into pancakes. Fry until golden on both sides, about 3 minutes per side.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Serve hot with sour cream or applesauce.
